Glue-Free Wadding Production Line: A Buyer Evaluation Checklist

A glue-free wadding production line should be selected against the material a factory needs to make, not a model name or an advertised payback figure. Before comparing suppliers, define the finished wadding, the input fibers and the method you will use to accept a trial sample. This checklist gives home-textile buyers a practical way to request comparable proposals without assuming that every production line has the same scope.

Define the finished wadding first

Describe the intended use, target width, weight per unit area, thickness or loft, appearance and any recovery requirement. List the fiber types and blend ranges you plan to run. If more than one product will be made, identify the smallest and largest specifications rather than sending a single ideal sample. Agree on the test method and acceptable variation for each property with your own customer or quality team before asking a supplier to guarantee it.

Ask for a complete process and equipment boundary

Request a process diagram showing every included and excluded stage. Depending on the product and technology, questions may cover fiber opening and blending, web formation, bonding or drying, trimming, winding, material transfer and inspection. Ask which operations are automatic, which need an operator, and where another machine is required. Do not assume that a line name establishes the full production sequence.

The proposal should also state the working width, utility requirements, floor-space needs, changeover steps, control points and planned access for maintenance. For a thermal-bonded product, ask how the proposed fiber blend and heat process will be tested; do not copy temperature settings or output figures from a different material.

Use a sample trial to evaluate quality

  • Run representative fiber blends and target wadding weights, including the specifications most difficult to produce.
  • Record settings, sample length, weight per unit area across the width, thickness or loft, visible defects and any recovery result that matters to the buyer.
  • Repeat the test under agreed conditions. One attractive swatch does not establish repeatability across a shift or across different fibers.
  • Keep the trial record and agree on who measures each result, with which method and tolerance.

Any published capacity, uniformity or reject-rate figure should be interpreted with its material, width, weight and operating conditions. Ask for a written acceptance test tied to your product specifications rather than a universal performance promise.

Compare total cost with stated assumptions

A useful comparison includes the equipment and installation scope, energy and compressed-air consumption under a defined test, expected staffing, maintenance parts, changeovers, consumables and likely scrap handling. Separate quoted costs from estimates. A claimed percentage saving or short payback period cannot be checked without measured baseline data, production hours, local utility prices and a complete cost model.

Send a brief that suppliers can answer

  • Finished product: application, width, basis weight, loft and quality tolerances.
  • Inputs: fiber type, blend range, bale or feed format and planned product mix.
  • Output: required production schedule and how the rate will be measured.
  • Site: layout, available power, compressed air, heating options and environmental constraints.
  • Trial and acceptance: samples, measurement methods, inspection timing and written pass/fail criteria.

Ask each supplier to identify the exact configuration offered and to mark any assumptions or exclusions. The current Tian Yuan website does not list a complete specification for a glue-free wadding line, so request current model documentation and a written proposal before comparing equipment.
